Marvel’s Doctor Strange is Number 1 in the UK

Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange has opened this week as the UK’s number one film proving the Marvel Cinematic Universe is just what the doctor ordered for UK audiences. The film is set to make over £5.2M over the weekend (Fri-Sun) with a total of £9.1M since its Tuesday opening. The result means Doctor Strange has outperformed the opening weekends of Captain America: The Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy and fellow Marvel origin film Ant-Man.

I loved the film. It was an absolute trip. So cool seeing Steve Ditko’s visuals on the big screen and I want that cloak!

Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins, Benjamin Bratt with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton, is the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

The film is out now in the UK and Ireland. It opens in the US on 4th November 2016.
