"No matter where you go, there you are."

It looks like God Particle is the next Cloverfield movie

J.J. Abrams and the team have always done great things with the marketing of the Cloverfield movies. I still feel that what they did for the first film was some of the best teasing ever. A shame that the film didn’t quite live up to the teasers.

Then there was 10 Cloverfield Lane, which they managed to keep incredibly secret. It seemed come from nowhere, then the announcement came and it was in the cinema.

I am still not quite sure how the two films link together, but it seems that Paramount Pictures are building on the Cloverfield name. The plan is to have a film out each year set in the same shared universe.

The next film in the series will be God Particle. Abrams is producing the film with his Bad Robot Productions partner Bryan Burk.

In the near future, a team of astronauts on a space station make a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival.

Then we have this description for the film.

A team of astronauts aboard a space station find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must determine if they are friend or foe.

That seems awfully like the 2002 sci-fi show, Odyssey 5.

Julius Onah is directing the God Particle, which will be out on 24th February 2017.

It stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd.

That’s a great cast.

As with 10 Cloverfield Lane it is not immediately apparent how God Particle fits into the Cloverfield mythos, but I quite like how the connections are not immediately apparent. It is some kind of alien event/invasion but it seems they are playing the long game. It would be great if they released some films that had no mention of Cloverfield in any of the marketing and it was only when you watched it that the links became apparent.

Whatever they do, they keep capturing my curiosity. It seems like big things are afoot.

What are your theories on the Cloverfield shared universe?
