Ghost In The Shell is heading back to the cinema

I recently went to see Akira on the big screen and it was magnificent. You can read my review here.

Now it is the turn of Ghost In The Shell to return to the cinema. You know I am not talking about the live action film starring Scarlett Johansson, which is currently in production, don’t you?

I am talking about the 1995 animated film based on the manga of the same title by Masamune Shirow. The film was written by Kazunori Itō, directed by Mamoru Oshii, animated by Production I.G, and features the voices of Atsuko Tanaka, Akio Ōtsuka, and Iemasa Kayumi.

A cyborg policewoman and her partner hunt a mysterious and powerful hacker called the Puppet Master.

Can you believe it is over 20 years old!

Manga Entertainment are bringing the seminal anime back to UK cinemas on over 80 screens! The one night only screenings will take place on the 25th January 2017, and will play in cinemas across the UK.

“Profound and beautifully animated, Ghost In The Shell redefined the anime genre by exploring complex ideas regarding AI and what it means to be human – these themes are just as important now as they were 20 years ago. Absolutely timeless and digitally remastered, this film deserves to be seen on the big screen!” – Andrew Hewson, Marketing Manager

You can book tickets for the screening here.
