Supergirl’s Jimmy Olsen is becoming Guardian. Check out his supersuit

Like many of you I thought that Arrow’s John Diggle was destined to become Guardian. That didn’t come to pass, but it appears that Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) over in Supergirl is going to be putting on the armour.

Before you start saying why would Jimmy Olsen do that, don’t forget that in the comics he has had many varied, and sometimes silly, superpowers. It would be great to see Jimmy do something similar in the DC Cinematic Universe…oh wait….Yep, Zack Snyder killed off Jimmy Olsen in Batman v Superman so that won’t be happening!

Side note: Anyone else think that the DC Cinematic Universe seems to more like the one in the Injustice video games or maybe Earth 3 with the Crime Syndicate? Anyone? Bueller?

“These next few episodes are going to make [James] realize that being a photographer is not enough for him,” explained executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “So he’s going to go on a pretty exciting career trajectory that we’re really pumped by. James is going to decide that he can no longer sit back and be a sidekick, so he’s going to decide to become a vigilante. He’s going to become Guardian, complete with the shield, which is going to cause a massive problem in his relationship with Kara because he has decided not to tell her. Now there’s this new masked vigilante, and she has her own feelings about vigilantes, and it becomes a push and pull about who gets to decide who gets to be a hero?”

In the comics Guardian’s alter ego was Jim Harper. That character has shown up in season 1 of Supergirl. He was played by Eddie McClintock (Warehouse 13). Hey, hey, hey! I wonder if Jimmy will be Guardian for a while, end up getting badly injured and then Jim Harper will put on the suit?

Brooks shared the first image of the Guardian suit and you can see it below. Share your thoughts in the comments.
