Benicio Del Toro is out, Boyd Holbrook is in for The Predator

This is a shame, but Benicio Del Toro has had to leave The Predator. It appears negotiations fell down, but it may well have been due to Del Toro’s schedule. They already had to move production to fit him in, but it seems things just haven’t worked out.
However, it looks like Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan) is set to take the lead role. He doesn’t yet have the rep of Del Toro, but it seems that Fox are going to make the supporting cast punchier to bring things up for speed. Holbrook is a solid actor and he did great things in Narcos. Hell, it would be great if they got Pedro Pascal in the mix as he they worked well together.
Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) starred in the original Predator movie and he is directing the new film, which he co-wrote with Fred Dekker.
The film is due out in March 2018 and filming is due to begin this autumn.
Not much is know about the film apart from it being set in the present day. There are also rumours that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved in some way.
To be honest, I’m happy with Holbrook or whoever, I just want to see a new Predator movie.
