Studio Ghibli & Wild Bunch’s The Red Turtle gets a new trailer

Here is a new trailer for Studio Ghibli’s The Red Turtle. It is a joint-production with European film distributor Wild Bunch. Michaël Dudok de Wit is directing, while Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies) is the film’s Artistic Producer.
Through the story of a man shipwrecked on a tropical island inhabited by turtles, crabs and birds, The Red Turtle recounts the milestones in the life of a human being.
The film has no dialogue and looks absolutely beautiful. You can read our review here.
According to Vincent Maraval, head of Wild Bunch, he visited Studio Ghibli in Japan in 2008 and met with Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki showed him the short film Father and Daughter and asked him to find its director, Michaël Dudok de Wit, with the prospect of co-producing a feature film. Wild Bunch approached Dudok de Wit in London and convinced him to take on the project. The screenplay was written by Dudok de Wit and Pascale Ferran.
The US trailer has been released by Sony and you can watch it below.
The film is out in the US on 20th January 2017.
