Joe Manganiello to be Deathstroke in the Batman movie

Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, True Blood) auditioned for Batman a few years back. Obviously he didn’t get the role, but he can take his revenge on Ben Affleck’s Batman as he will be playing Deathstroke in the solo Batman movie. DC executive Geoff Johns confirmed the casting.

Manu Bennett played the character of Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, in the Arrow TV show and he was great. The character also showed up in the Batman: Arkham games. However, I can see Manganiello doing a great job as Slade in the DC Cinematic universe.

Ben Affleck did share some footage of Deathstroke a while back.

Deathstroke is, in the DC universe, the world’s greatest assassin/mercenary. He was part of an experimental super-soldier project where he gained enhanced strength, agility and intelligence. Kind of like Captain America, but if he went bad.

There is no word on whether Manganiello will be in the Justice League movie or if we will have to wait for the Batman movie in 2018.

I am quite glad that they are using the character as it should mean we will see Batman have a decent fight on the big screen with someone who should prove a challenge. I could also see Deathstroke showing up in future Suicide Squad movies. Let’s just hope they don’t kill the character off straightaway.

What are your thoughts on the casting? Is Deathstroke the kind of villain you want to see in the solo Batman movie?
