Jóhann Jóhannsson is writing the score for Blade Runner 2

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner was visually stunning and it also had that incredible score by Vangelis. While we all wait nervously to see what happens with the Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) directed sequel, it looks like a composer has been chosen for the score.
Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, who has received two Academy Award nominations and one BAFTA award, is the man in question and he has worked with Villeneuve before. Speaking to RÚV national radio, Jóhannsson said that the decision was made a long time ago to choose him to compose the score. Jóhannsson composed the scores to Sicario, Prisoners and Villeneuve’s forthcoming film, Arrival.
The sequel will star Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Jared Leto and Robin Wright
The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
