"No matter where you go, there you are."

Colin Farrell may star in Sofia Coppola’s remake of The Beguiled

The Beguiled is the 1971 film directed by Don Siegel and starred Clint Eastwood. It was based on the 1966 Southern Gothic novel written by Thomas P. Cullinan.

During the middle of the American Civil War in 1863, injured Yankee soldier John McBurney is rescued from the verge of death by a twelve-year-old girl from an all-girl boarding school in Mississippi. At first the all-female staff and pupils are scared, but as John starts to recover, he charms them one by one and the sexually repressed atmosphere becomes filled with jealousy and deceit, with the two teachers and some of the girls clearly attracted to him.

Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, Virgin Suicides) is writing and directing a remake of the film. Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning have already been cast in the film and it looks like Colin Farrell is in talks to play the Eastwood role.

Focus Features will act as a distributor.
