Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie celebrates the biggest opening for a British film this year

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE has enjoyed a strong opening weekend at the UK and Ireland box office, taking a total of £4.042M making it the biggest British film since Spectre in October 2015 and the biggest UK opening in Fox Searchlight Pictures’ history.

Cameron Saunders, UK Managing Director, Twentieth Century Fox, said: “We are thrilled that audiences have embraced Edina and Patsy’s big screen debut – it is a testament to Jennifer, Joanna and the talented team behind the film who really are absolutely fabulous.”

Released in cinemas on Friday 1st July, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE sees Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone (Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley) still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to: shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots.

But when they accidentally push Kate Moss into the River Thames at an über-fashionable launch party, Eddy and Patsy become entangled in a media storm surrounding the supermodel’s untimely demise and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!
