Fall Out Boy have done the new Ghostbusters theme song. You can listen to it here

I really do want to like the new Ghostbusters film. I’ve no problem with it being an all female team. I can understand them doing a reboot, although I can’t see why they just didn’t have it set after the previous films as they keep having throwbacks – Slimer, Staypuft Marshmallow Man etc – in the new film. That just seems to confuse things.

However, the new version of the Ghostbusters theme song is just a mess. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with Fall Out Boy or Missy Elliott, who features on the song. It is the fact that it is just a terrible version of the Ray Parker Jr song. Sounds like someone got really enthusiastic with the reverb and echo effects. True, I could just be too old to dig it, but it is just a very messy mix.
