ewan mcThis is fantastic news. Ewan McGregor has been cast in the third season of FX’s Fargo and he will be playing brothers.

This will be McGregor’s first TV series regular role. The characters are Emmit and Ray Stussy, who are not twins, and they are the centre of the story according to EW.

Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale. Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.

Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley has said the new season would be set in 2010, a few years after the events in season 1. There may also be a character from the first season showing up, but who knows.

All in all it is exciting news.

Fargo season 3 will begin production later this year and will air sometime in 2017.
