Doctor Who’s new companion will be announced on Saturday

The BBC have officially confirmed that the new Doctor Who companion will be revealed exclusively on BBC One Match of the Day Live (MOTD Live) on Saturday 23 April, during half-time of the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United.

The MOTD Live coverage will start on BBC One at 4.50pm with kick-off planned for 5.15pm.

The most recent companion was Jenna Coleman who played Clara Oswald, companion to the eleventh and twelfth incarnations of the Doctor.

I have no idea who will be playing the new companion, but could the fact it is going to be announced on Match of the Day have something to do with either the character or actor involved? Seems like an odd place to announce it, but I assume there is a reason for it.

Who would you like to see join Peter Capaldi’s Doctor in the TARDIS?
