Tom Holland is playing Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the new Spidey movie for Sony. Marisa Tomei is playing Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr is rumoured to pop up in it as Tony Stark, and Zendaya is said to be playing a key role. We have also heard that Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman) is in talks to join the film as the villain of the piece.

First up is Tony Revolori, who played an excellent Lobby Boy in Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. Conflicting reports have him down as either Peter’s best friend in school or his high school nemesis.

Then we have Laura Harrier (One Life To Live) who is also said to have a significant role, but that’s all there is.

Could Zendaya and Laura be playing Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy or will they be playing new characters?

While we wait to hear whether he takes the role, a couple more names have been attached.

Tom Holland recently had this to say about the film, “It really is a homecoming, because, throughout the movie, Peter is trying to find out who he is and where he belongs in this world.”

We will get to see Holland in action when Captain America: Civil War hits the big screen.

The Sony Pictures film is set to begin production soon for a July 2017 release. Jon Watts is directing and Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal producing.
