Tessa Thompson joins Thor: Ragnarok

tessa-thompsonTessa Thompson (Creed) is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thor: Ragnarok. Before that she is working with Natalie Portman in Alex Garland’s adaptation of Annihilation (more on that here).

The reason I mention Annihilation is that it seems that Portman will not be returning for the third Thor movie. Therefore, it seems that Thompson may be the female lead in the new Marvel movie. Mind you, there is Jaimie Alexander who is always brilliant as Lady Sif.

Back to Thompson. Her character is said to “be a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well.” The film is said to be a kind of road trip on an epic scale so it is quite possible that Thompson will not be playing an Asgardian. I’m not sure who she could be playing. Any ideas?

Thompson is a great actor so whoever it is she will do an amazing job.

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) and also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo and Lou Ferrigno (who voices the Hulk which is as it should be).

The film is due out in November 2017.
