Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash) is the latest director to be attached to the remake of Dario Argento’s classic Suspiria.

Guadagnino wants to reunite with the cast of A Bigger SplashDakota Johnson, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton – to make the film.

Apparently they all enjoyed working together so much they want to make it a regular thing. If Swinton is involved with the new Suspiria then I am suddenly very interested in the prospect.

Guadagnino had this to say about the original film.

The film… was a very indicative moment of growing up for me because I saw it when I was 14. I think it changed me forever. I was obsessed… through my adolescence. [My version] is going to be set in Berlin in 1977. It’s going to be about the mother and the concept of motherhood and about the uncompromising force of motherhood. It’s going to be about finding your inner voice. The title is very evocative on these grounds.

Sounds like he will be making it his own thing, which is better than just a straight remake.
