The Random: Jared Leto Joker Movie, Cannonball Run, Billie Holiday Biopic, Roseanne Spin-Off, Jackass 4, Captain America, Voltron and more

– Sources tell Variety that Jared Leto is set to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film featuring his version of The Joker. Plot details are currently unknown. There is currently no release date and they are looking for a writer.

– It seems that the Roseanne TV show may continue without Roseanne Barr. There could be stronger emphasis on Sara Gilbert’s character Darlene, which can be expected since the revival was centered mainly on three characters, Roseanne (Barr), Dan (John Goodman) and their daughter Darlene (Gilbert) who moved back home with her kids. Industry sources say that Gilbert and executive producers Tom Werner and Bruce Helford met Monday with ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey – Deadline

– Lee Daniels (Empire, The Butler) is in talks to direct the Billie Holiday biopic Billie. R&B singer Andra Day is the top choice for the title role and Lakeith Stanfield for the male role – Variety

– Mythos Studios has announced it is developing an animated film based on Cupid with Justin Bieber. Bieber is set to star as the voice of Cupid, the legendary winged god of love from classical mythology, as well as executive-produce the project.

– Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity) is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to helm a remake of the 1980’s action comedy, The Cannonball Run. The original franchise starred Burt Reynolds, Frank Sinatra, Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dom DeLuise. The films centered on an illegal cross-country race where the participants played dirty tricks on one another – Variety

– Capcom has registered a domain for Devil May Cry 5.

– Alethea Jones (Fun Mom Dinner) is set to direct all 10 episodes of Queen America, the upcoming Facebook Watch series starring Catherine Zeta-Jones. The dark comedy is set in Tulsa, OK. It revolves around Vicki Ellis (Zeta-Jones), the most renowned (and ruthless) pageant coach in the state, and the hapless Samantha Stone, who hopes Vicki can mold her into a worthwhile contender. Vicki is desperately sought after by young women competing to be pageant queen royalty for one reason: She can turn any girl into a winner. But when she gets paired with the beautiful but unpolished Samantha, Vicki’s entire reputation might be at stake – Deadline

– Paramount has preemptively picked up the sci-fi spec script Aporia from Jared Moshe, who wrote the script and is attached to direct. J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is producing with Neda Armian. Aporia’s logline is being kept secret. It is, however, being described as a grounded sci-fi drama with time-travel elements – THR

– Johnny Knoxville has said that Jackass 4 could still happen – “It’s possible, for sure. It’s not like we’re saying no. If we did do a new one, we’d have to bring in some new younger guys— just to bring some fresh blood into it. But it’s possible.” – EW
