– British sci-fi horror film Monsters is being turned into a television series by Vertigo Films for UK broadcaster Channel 4. The feature was the directorial debut of Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) – Deadline

Adam Shankman is set to direct the sequel to Enchanted, which is titled Disenchanted. “We are handing in a script in a couple weeks that I’m super happy with,” Shankman said. “Then gotta get the music written.The fundamental story has changed a little bit, but not from the base story of it. It’s about Giselle 10 years later going, ‘What is happily ever after?’”/Film

Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It) has joined the cast of The Goldfinch, the adaptation of the Donna Tartt best-seller being made by Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios. John Crowley (Brooklyn) is directing the drama, which is toplined by Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort as Theo, a young man who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is taken in by a wealthy family, only to be drawn into New York City’s art underworld. Wolfhard will play the key role of Young Boris, a Ukrainian student and troublemaker who bonds with Theo due to their both having lost their mothers and who introduces him to drugs and alcohol. – Disney has released this new image from Ant-Man and The Wasp of Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd in costume. I do like how the costumes have stylised faces of the respective insects. A very nice bit of design work.

Jason Statham has signed a deal with STX Entertainment and Tencent Pictures, the fast-growing film arm of Chinese internet giant Tencent, to co-develop an action film targeting the Chinese film market, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. Statham will produce and star in the project, which is expected to be set up as an official China co-production. Details of the film’s story and concept are still under development.

Scoot McNairy has been cast opposite Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff in the third season of Nic Pizzolatto’s HBO crime anthology series True DetectiveDeadline

Patrick Wilson would love to play Nite-Owl again in the Watchmen TV show. He talked to Yahoo about it – “It was such a joy shooting that movie, I wanted there to be more of them. I’ve wanted to play Dan again. I certainly think we’re all more age appropriate now! There’s never been one conversation. I’m sure they want to stay as far away from us as possible but I love Damon Lindeloff. I’m so excited to see what they will do. I’d love to play [Dan] now but no there’s been no talk, I’m just a fan like you are.”

Ewan McGregor has said many times that he is up for reprising his role of Obi-Wan for a Kenobi Star Wars movie. It seems the sensible thing to do. We still have to wait and see if Disney agree. However, Liam Neeson has also recently said he would be up for playing Qui-Gon Jinn once more – “This is the first time I’m hearing of this. No one’s been in touch with me. I know in the Star Wars world anything is possible. In the first one, The Phantom Menace, I died but we know, you know, Jedis come back and stuff but no one’s been in touch. We’ll see.” – Yahoo

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is set to star as the female lead opposite Will Smith in Gemini Man from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media. The Ang Lee-directed project has been in development for the past 20 years. The story follows an over-the-hill assassin who faces off against himself, a clone who is younger and in his prime – Deadline

Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The Crown) is in talks to play Charles Manson in the indie movie The Family, which hails from the American Psycho team of director Mary Harron and screenwriter Guinevere Turner. Based on the nonfiction book “The Long Prison Journey of Leslie van Houten: Life Beyond The Cult” by Karlene Faith as well as Ed Sanders’ 1971 novel “The Family,” the film will follow grad student Faith as she works with three brainwashed young women who were part of the Manson family — Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins. The story will be told via a series of flashbacks after the three women are incarcerated in a special security unit at the California Institute for Women – The Tracking Board
