Celebrate Alien Day on 26th April
At the end of March came news that there would be an Alien Day on April 26th. The reason for that date is because of the planet’s name that the original Alien was discovered – LV-426.
You can read all the details here.
All the main celebrations seem to be taking place over in the US, but I have just been sent news that Hackney Picturehouse will be screening Alien and Aliens on Tuesday 26th April. You will be able to book tickets here later this afernoon.
Alien: Director’s Cut (15) Director: Ridley Scott.
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Ian Holm. UK/USA 1979. 116 mins. A commercial crew aboard the deep-space towing vessel Nostromo are on their way home when they pick up an SOS warning from the distant planet LV-426.
What they don’t know is that this SOS is no ordinary call…
Aliens: Director’s Cut (15) Director: James Cameron.
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Lance Henriksen. UK/USA 1986. 154 mins.
Sigourney Weaver reprises her iconic role as Ellen Ripley. The sole survivor of the carnage aboard the Nostromo, she is appalled to discover that the planet where she first encountered the aliens has now become a human colony. When colonists start to disappear, Ripley leads a combat patrol
of space marines to investigate.
I am sure they will not be the only cinemas doing something to celebrate the old Xenomorph, but they are the first I have heard from.
If you know, or work for, any other cinemas that will be celebrating Alien Day then post the details in the comments below.
